WpForo how is it?

Anyone used WpForo and how good is the addon. I see few sites use it and i am a user in one of the forum. But i do want to know how it is really in the backend

@Jason I used to use wpforo and also purchased the messaging, uploads, polls, and some others. They are well written, but incredibly expensive. I decided after a year to not renew because of this

You can install it locally and find out the _really free_ options available with WpForo.

@admin I am using it now and so far good. Basic features are there and i am happy with it. Haven't got any new users so as day goes by need to see how it works.

These are actually quite good, although if I remember correctly and United they've changed it, migration has to be completed from the backend.

Additionally, it's worth noting that wpforo in fact doesn't use any WordPress functions - if a separate animal altogether which is why you have to sync wpforo users with WordPress (an automated process handled by wpforo). Like Flarum, it's also an SPA and doesn't make use of the WordPress content blocks either.

Hmm i see there are few but haven't tested it fully. Akismet and Google Recaptcha is supported, i need to use it more to see how it fully functions.

Are you using them during registration ?

@Abhi these work well during the registration and login process. However, don't forget that if you ban a user in WordPress they can still login to your forum.

How ? Don't they refer the same database for password ?

@Abhi yes, but as I mentioned previously, wpforo sits outside of WordPress as a standalone package.
