WordPress vs Xenforo?

My friend is trying to set up a new gaming forum but he's confused on the best forum software to use that's going to offer him the best features for the new forum.

Between WordPress and Xenforo software, which one do you would work well for his new forum?

XF and WordPress are two different poles, right?

I would choose WordPress because it's the first forum software which I used years ago when I created my first blog. It's what I'm very used to.
