Who remembers using Webrings?

For the younger generation, they are similar to Affiliates. They were a collection of websites linked together, but unlike Affiliates, they were linked by a specific theme. It was popular in the 1990’s & early 2000’s. If a person went to a website & wanted to find others similar, that is where the Webring came in handy.

I remember using it for my Proboards forum many years ago. You could join several Webrings.

Ah, yeah, definitely. EZBoards were awash with webrings, so were Geocities, handy little "networks."

@Jay Yep, always buzzing with activity and some new site popping up every few seconds trying to get a slice of the activity, EZBoards raking in a fortune for CSC Gold communities, those were the days.

Yes, they were better than Affiliates in my opinion. You could find the same niche easier. This was when forums ruled, before social media came into play more.

Does anyone remember Orkut? I had a friend who was crazy about it.
