Starting a vlog

How will you start a vlog ? Use a YouTube channel so that everything is YouTube or a website where you can embed your videos. Of course you have a choice here. You can either use YouTube itself and embed the videos into your website. Or there alternatives plus self-hosting option.

Which method do you think is better for a successful vlog ?

@Abhi I think and hosting is a better option. That way, you can add other content and integrate with existing stuff. Not a fan of vlog myself, but am looking at ways of increasing engagement on my own site

I am not sure about hosting on our own. Mainly because

[*]1. We are not sure how fast viewer's internet connection is
[*]2. Not sure which resolution to serve
[*]3. Transcoding on the fly will need a very very good server

I could list a lot of other things that can hurt you pocket as well as burn your brain.

Personally, I would start a YouTube channel and embed videos on my website. And promote my website instead of the YouTube channel.

Sounds fair to me. It is hard to cater to hundreds of speed plus resolution combinations at the same time.
