Now that CentOS is a bit complicated for everyone and is longer active in the scene for many, What is your first OS choice for a Server or VPS ?

Everyone thinks that Ubuntu is the next go-to option. Is that true for you ?

Ubuntu is pretty solid for servers, Debian's a great option, as well. It's a shame CentOS is going the way they're going, understandable, but it's been the go-to for a good while now, it seems odd to change that.

> @PGen98 Debian's a great option,

I completely forgot about Debian. There has been some change in management at Alma Linux. Then there is Rocky Linux from the CentOS founder.

But Debian is a really good option. It is very established and there is a lot of support.

Debian or Ubuntu for me at the moment. There are a lot of guides on the internet on how to set them up, secure it, maintain it etc.

Also, there are web panels which treat these as mainstream OS for servers.

Wise choice. I do agree with your argument. Support is important.

I have to agree that support is very important, it's imperative that you can get help should something go wrong, and that there's a community behind the OS in order to help ensure it keeps pushing forward. Rocky is a great alternative since it is essentially CentOS again, but it needs time to mature just a little bit.
