This is were MyBB 1.9 's new responsive theme is being demo -ed . According to the team, it is more or less complete. You can register and see how it works. The responsive part really works, you can see that for various screen sizes. Check the link from mobile too.

**MyBB 1.9 release date, price**. If these are what you want to know, MyBB 1.9 is free and open source. As for the _release date_ I can only say that somewhere in 2020.

@Euan posted something on their 1.9 development thread. He is re-basing 1.8 changes to 1.9 and it is taking a lot of time. According to him, holiday season didn't cover his needs. Now that all developers are back to regular life, there will be some delay before 1.9 made available.

A lot of forums still use MyBB and they want to upgrade to 1.9. Only time can tell when it will be released.

Still they have long way to go, it is Free so can't say much. As the developers and users have come down the contribution has also come down sadly.

If it comes out before Q3 this year, that is good for a lot of users.

But the current themes, addons, won't be compatible right? I have a custom theme in MyBB and it won't be upgraded to 1.9 by the author sadly :(

Yes. The update might break themes and addons. But you have at least another 6 months in your hands from what we have seen so far.

By that time your forum will be super profitable so that you can make another theme without worry ;)

It is a demo for us to see. It is not a full fledged installer yet. But when v1.9 comes out, it could be possibly like this.

Because they are not even into beta. And there were talks about using a CLI based installer.

Looks nice to me as well. But not sure when the stable version will arrive.

They have most of the front end ready. Now only back end works pending. Which is a lot by the looks of it.

Give it till December. The team is too thin now. Too much work and 2-3 people on it.

MyBB denies a request from an user to focus all staff on v 1.9. According to them a lot of people would still be using version 1.8 and would need support.

> The problem is that even after 1.9 is released, there are going to be forums still using 1.8. We can't just completely drop support for them. In an ideal world, all resources would be focused in one direction, but that's unfortunately not the way things work.

A MyBB user was so unhappy about v 1.8 not having a responsive theme. In the end, the user has himself modified the default MyBB 1.8 theme to be responsive and shared to the community.
