Were you on Windows 7 ? Did you know that updates have stopped and you are vulnerable (?) ?

What is your next action ? Windows 10 or keep using Windows 7 ?

Yes i know that Windows 7 support has stopped and Microsoft is making its users to switch to Windows 10. I have already moved to Linux so no worries here :D

While a lot of people think bad about it, I think it is time they do that. Windows 7, while great, is a very old OS. More than a decade old. It is just like a vintage car which you cannot use in a racing.

Ya, when we think of it that way, it's true. But a lot of people use it without any problem. Also, it is less complex than Windows 10.

Agreed. There is an emotional part. Things like

[*]1. Windows 10 will not run on my machine
[*]2. There is a learning curve
[*]3. I am not happy with how Windows 10 works

etc etc

But you cannot expect a corporate to support your product for more than a decade. If you are particular, you can still buy their paid update (it has some name ) for Windows 7 even now.

Imagine when thousands or perhaps lakhs of people have no choice. Either use Windows 7 without updates or buy a new PC. That is odd, right ?

They can use the paid updates. There is already that option available to all.

It is not that updates are stopping altogether. Security apps with give some patches as long as they see a profit in it.

I am seeing options on YouTube. A lot of Distros are self-advertising as Windows alternative. I don't think half of them has drivers for those old Windows 7 PCs ( 2005 - 2010 era ). They are simply going to ruin the data on those PCs.

I read on a few newspapers that Windows will continue to release updates from anti virus vendors. I am not sure whether it is only paid AV suites. Possibly your free antivirus versions also might give it to you.

Many got used to the liking of Windows 7, the ease to use simple setting etc.. So switching to Win 10 will look like a big thing for them. But soon many will start liking Win 10 and Win 7 will be soon forgotten.
