Illegal apps

Let it be forum software, addon, theme, social media script or a CMS. Do you know fellow webmasters who use ?

What do you tell to them ? Do you simply leave it as their business ?

@Abhi well, if you're dumb enough to use illegal software, them there are two consequences that immediately sorting to mind. The first is privacy of course, bit then there's the unexpected Trojan often buried in illegal software which can then easily find it's way into your website and do all sorts of damage - where you'll pay much more to resolve than you would if you simply purchased the software legally in the first place.

@Abhi All the time. However, there are those who are not prepared to pay for something, then are shock at what happens to their site as a result of using "nulled" plugins etc.

You will make them your enemy. It normally does.

But I agree with the fact that such plugins are a security nightmare. But convincing them is a bigger one.

I will simply let them suffer for their mistake. Not that I am a cruel person, it is more or less impossible to tell people not to do that. They think they are being smart. Challenging them is only going to create friction.

I agree on being the smart part. It is very dangerous to break that illusion. In real life, it could end with injuries. You know the online consequences. ️
