Hosted platforms

Do you think that hosted platform forums are inferior to self hosted ones ? They more or less work like the same. Especially when the core is rich with features.

Facebook is a hosted platform, Twitter is, so is Instagram.

It depends on what you intend to do. If it works, let it continue. Why break it ?

Don't mistake me. But some people do not like pre-hosted website. Some of them are very shady.

@Abhi I'm no fan of prehosted either. Admittedly, the firm I work for is almost 100% in the cloud, but for me, the offerings are just too expensive when I know I can do a better job myself.

Have you checked Discourse's self-hosted plans ? Invision as well. They are way too expensive for almost no reason. It is like buying an Apple product. You pay a lot extra for something which you can learn easily.
