What is your first choice when trying to build a website? Do you try to hard code it or use tools like WordPress?

I hard code it if it's a smaller website, and use some CMS if it's bigger. I've mostly used WP whenever I've used a CMS.

I use Tailwind these days. But open to doing everything from scratch.

WordPress is the default choice for many people. It is as straightforward as website design can be.

@Abhi I'm an ex-fan of Bootstrap, but it is a bit too preset for me. I end up spending loads of time overriding Bootstrap's CSS instead of focusing on designing everything as I'd like from the get go. Tailwind allows me to do that :)

What is the best thing about Tailwind? I see that they do not have ready to use components like Bootstrap.

@Abhi That's a positive in my book! No ready-made components that force a certain style of buttons etc. The best thing is that designing goes really fast since you don't have to jump back and forth from your HTML and CSS files. You do it all in the HTML, there's a Tailwind class for basically everything.

@Abhi My very site was completely hand coded. I don't think WordPress even existed back then (1997)! Now-a-days I prefer PHP scripts like forums and picture galleries. 😃

Hard coded is cool. You did not rely on any framework either?

I’ve looked at IPBoard but haven’t tried it.

@Jay it’s so expensive and not worth the money.

VBulletin can be good but I’ve heard it’s buggy.
