There is a change in how CentOS will be supported from now on
https://blog.centos.org/2020/12/future-is-centos-stream/
The official blog post says that CentOS Linux 8 will stop having support once 2021 is over. And there after, CentOS Stream will take over. But not everyone is happy with it. Especially, some community members of CentOS and the original creator of CentOS.
A lot of people plan to migrate to Ubuntu or SUSE. Greg Kurtzer, founder of CentOS chose to launch [Rocky Linux ](https://rockylinux.org/)
