Bootstrap icons come from the famous Twitter Bootstrap team lead by @Mark Otto.

Alpha 4 for Bootstrap icons is now available with 140 new icons and the total number of icons reaching around 700.

In their website, the icon size is very small. Probably that, it doesn't look much attractive to me. Probably higher sizes would look much better. I am not saying that it is not good. Only thing they are attempting right now are basic icons. That might change by the time it reaches stable release.

Yes, they are a bit thinner than the competition. But I think it will make its own space if they ship it with Bootstrap.

I don't think it is meant to be a stand alone icon pack for independent project. Considering Bootstrap in the backend, there is good chance some sort of integration is planned.

Personally I am happy that there is more and more competition in this area. It will drive the market to new ideas.

Only thing is that a lot of people already call Bootstrap " heavy". Hopefully icons won't echo that.

**Alpha 5** for Bootstrap icons is now available with 300 + new icons which mainly are hardware and device icons. An _SVG Sprite_ is also available. Now there are 1000 + icons in this pack.

When the pack hits 1.0 stable, it will offer icon web fonts.

I used the Sprite file as _Inkscape Symbol_, works fine.

Bootstrap says no more alpha for icons. Next version will be stable 1.0

Bootstraps says version 1.0 stable is almost ready. The set now has 1,100 + icons out of which 100 are newly included since our last update on this topic.

Bootstrap icons has announced their **first stable release v1.0.0**

[Bootstrap says](https://blog.getbootstrap.com/2020/08/28/bootstrap-icons-stable/) that they were aiming to release an icon font but due to _tooling for generating fonts from SVG_ is giving them problems. _Icon font_ is at the moment postponed to v1.1.0 release.

Interested to know how you can use it ? The license and the related technical terminologies ?

I heard that they are taking icon requests. It is possible that they are using Github issues for that.

They are giving away individual SVGs too. You can get them from their Github repo.

Their repo is not _only_ SVG. They included other tools too. MIT license looks fine for me if somebody is interested in using them outside Bootstrap Framework.

Web fonts are getting ready for Bootstrap icons
