Affordable and with good support?

Have you ever come across any hosting companies that offered affordable plans and also offered good support? From my experience, they're pretty rare. What do you think?

What kind of hosting are you planning to try? Digital Ocean is a comfortable option when it comes to scalable VPS.

Namecheap has the best first year price. Renewal is a bit expensive though.

Linode got sold to Akamai. Maybe they will offer more features now.

I find many of them get you in for the first year however you need to look ahead and see what the renewal rates are, As you said above Namecheap was good upfront but the renewal is higher.

They charge for SSL too in the second year.

Yes they charge after the second year however if you are not selling products on your site the server's SSL is fine, If you run Cloudflare they have SSL as well.

I think Google Chrome flags Cloudflare's SSL. Read somewhere.

Seems to be working fine on here, with no flags.
